# Terms of Use Nodule Navigator is an educational visualization tool for pulmonary nodule imaging concepts. These terms describe what that means in practice, and what the site is explicitly not for. ## Educational disclaimer **Nodule Navigator is strictly an educational visualization tool.** It is not a medical device, clinical decision support system, or diagnostic aid of any kind, and it has not been reviewed or approved by the FDA or any regulatory body. ## 1. Educational use only Nodule Navigator is strictly an educational visualization tool. Everything on it — the 3D nodule models, the lessons, the glossary, the quiz, and the risk calculator — exists to explain concepts in pulmonary nodule imaging to clinicians, students, patients, and anyone else curious about them. By using this site you agree that you are using it to learn, and not as an input to any real clinical decision. If you do not accept these terms, please do not use the site. ## 2. Not a medical device This is not a medical device, a clinical decision support system, a diagnostic aid, or a screening tool of any kind. It has not been reviewed, cleared, or approved by the FDA or by any other regulatory body, and it is not intended for the diagnosis, cure, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of disease. The 3D models are stylised representations built in Blender for educational visualisation. They are not derived from patient imaging data and do not depict any real radiological finding. Their teal colouring is a design choice; on CT imaging, pulmonary nodules appear as white or grey opacities. ## 3. No doctor-patient relationship Using this site, reading its content, running the calculator, or sending a message through the contact form does not create a doctor-patient relationship, a consultation, or a professional duty of care of any kind. No one behind this project can review your imaging, interpret your findings, or advise you on your treatment, and no message sent through the site will be answered as though they could. If you have a concern about a lung nodule or about your lung health, consult a qualified physician or pulmonologist who can see your imaging and your history. In an emergency, contact emergency services. ## 4. Not a substitute for professional medical advice Nothing on this site is medical advice, clinical risk prediction, or diagnostic guidance, and nothing here substitutes for consultation with a qualified professional. Never disregard professional medical advice, and never delay seeking it, because of something you read or calculated here. Risk percentages and clinical context throughout the site come from published guidelines and peer-reviewed literature. They describe population-level data. They cannot be applied to an individual patient, and an individual patient's situation cannot be read off them. ## 5. Scope of the risk calculator The calculator reproduces the Mayo Clinic malignancy risk model (Swensen SJ et al., Arch Intern Med. 1997;157(8):849–855; validated in Radiology. 2004;231:606–614) for educational purposes, with every variable and coefficient shown so the arithmetic can be inspected rather than trusted blindly. That model is validated for **solitary** pulmonary nodules in patients aged 40 and over, with nodule diameters between 4 mm and 30 mm. It does not apply to multiple nodules, to patients under 40, to nodules outside that size range, or to any clinical picture the original derivation cohort did not cover. Outputs produced outside that scope are meaningless, and outputs produced inside it are still educational estimates, not predictions about a person. ## 6. Content accuracy and no warranty Content is grounded in Lung-RADS 2022, the Fleischner Society 2017 guidelines, USPSTF screening recommendations, the National Lung Screening Trial, and cited peer-reviewed literature. Every source is listed on the references page. Accuracy is a best-effort commitment, maintained by hand: guidelines change, and a page may lag behind a revision. The site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, completeness, currency, or non-infringement. No guarantee is made that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at any given moment. To the fullest extent permitted by law, no liability is accepted for any loss or damage arising from use of, or reliance on, anything published here. Acceptable use The site is free to use and requires no account, no payment, and no registration. You may read it, learn from it, link to it, and cite it. You may not present the site or its output as a diagnostic or clinical decision-making tool, embed it in a clinical workflow, republish its content as your own, misrepresent its educational nature, or use it in a way that damages or disrupts the service for others. Privacy and changes to these terms No personal or health data is collected. Risk calculator inputs are computed entirely in your browser and are never transmitted, stored, or logged.
